"It’s a lovely building. The rooms carved up in this old villa evoke more a style of a Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn. Clean and modern with plenty of hot water. It’s a bit of a stretch to call this place a hotel. I’d say it’s more a B&B where you have to pay for the breakfast. Service was about non-existent. Proprietor did not offer to help with bags and a request for him to make a restaurant reservation fell on deaf ears. The killer was when I asked the chambermaid for another roll of toilet paper and got an argument. Not what this traveler expects for a €180/night experience. Note that there is plenty of parking nearby. If nothing is on the street, two blocks inland is a free public lot with 45 spaces. Houlgate is gorgeous and very friendly."

"We spent a first rate long weekend here in September 2018. This is an hotel with considerable character and charm, only a three minute walk from Houlgate's impressive sandy beach, as well as the centre of town with its wide choice of restaurants. Set in a former 19th century villa, the owners have sensibly retained its original style and decor. We received a very warm welcome and were very well looked after throughout our stay: the French breakfasts were especially well done. Our room was quite small but comfortable and immaculately maintained: the bathroom was excellent. Visitors by car should note that there is only limited parking in the hotel grounds, (for which a charge is made), but there is street parking in the immediate vicinity. More generally, the classic style of the hotel building includes a magnificent, but quite steep, staircase. We did not find this a problem, but would be guests who find stairs hard work might be advised to ask for a first floor room. But, in the round, the hotel has all the right ingredients for an enjoyable visit, especially if you like traditional French style."

"Very charming boutique hotel, ideally located 2 minutes away both from the beach and the center, kids friendly but quiet. The room we had was renovated except for the bathroom (a little gesture from the owner would have been nice, as this was the only room with an old bathroom - but we already had quite a good deal on the second night so we can't complain...), and there were (small) works in the courtyard quite early on the Saturday morning, but overall a very nice stay. Very nice breakfast with excellent bred (a pity they don't serve eggs and/or cheese in our opinion), good beds"

"The only one among the numerous historical villas of Houlgate to be a hotel. The decoration of the main lounge is really stunning. The rooms are modern and well equipped although not always large. The breakfast is excellent and you will feel like the first ones to come for leisure in this beautiful region which is a mixture of countryside and sea."

"A typical Normandy style 'Belle Epoque' house very near to the beach. Very calm and relaxing. Immaculately maintained. We received a very warm welcome and won't hesitate to stay there again. The garden looked lovely with chairs and tables spread about but we didn't get the chance to use it. We noticed that you can also rent bicycles from the hotel."
